Everyone shows you the same photo of Santorini — blue domes, white walls, a sunset that looks fake it's so perfect. Nobody shows you the stuff that actually matters once you're standing there. Here's my countdown.

5. The Island Is Way Smaller Than the Photos Suggest

Santorini is only about 28 square miles. That "endless island paradise" feeling from Instagram? It's actually a tight, walkable stretch of cliffside towns. Which sounds great — until you realize how that changes the number of days you actually need there.

4. There's a "Wrong Time" to Show Up in Oia, and It's Not Subtle

I'm talking full gridlock — narrow alleys packed shoulder to shoulder, cafés with zero open seats, and a very specific window of the day tied directly to when the cruise ships dock. Get the timing wrong and you'll spend your trip fighting crowds instead of enjoying the view.
